By default, Skype for Business keeps track of where you are as you log on from different locations. You can assign custom names to the various locations you log on from. Skype for Business associates each name with the corresponding network connection.
For example, you might be using Skype for Business on your laptop or mobile phone while traveling or from a conference room in another building, or you might sign out of Skype for Business at work and then sign in from your home computer. You can assign each of these locations a different name (for example, “Traveling,” “Building 4,” “work,” and “home,” respectively). After you set a particular location name, Skype for Business remembers it, so the next time Skype for Business detects that you are using that particular network connection, the location name that is displayed with your presence will change to reflect it. If you are at a new location and specify a name that you previously used somewhere else, that name will become associated with the current (that is, new) location and network connection.
Your contacts can see your location as part of your presence information, which makes it easy to tell how available you are or what kind of communication might be best at the time.
You can choose not to display your location, by clicking Show Others My Location on the location drop-down menu (below your name and presence status on the Skype for Business main window).
